Cfl Pick Week 6: Friday

Lost last weewk on calgary--5-2 YTD

This week:
Sask @ Montreal: Montreal has had an odd schedule to date with 3 on the road followed by 3 at home. Their only strong opponent was this same Rider team in week one, resulting in a loss. Saskatchewan has had one other tough opponent in Calgary also resulting in a loss. This is a large home game for Montreal but I’m always leery of teams , either in CFL or NFL , with such an extended home stay. Comfort can breed a degree of sloppiness. Both defenses can be had, while the offenses can be productive. It looks like the Als have gotten over their lack of scoring in the red zone and their backers will be counting on that. We’ll see but given the Rider resiliency I see value on the dog. I’ll take the Riders plus the 6 points ( and hold my breath throughout)

I'm really looking forward to this game. Extension cords out to the lakeshore, umbrellas to shade the TV, makeshift connection to the dish that has worked before...
There are times I really love the CFL and this is one of them. There is something so simple about this league, an innoncence in a way ,that i really do appreciate. Plus its summer and there is no mention of Favre.

I see the line at 7 now.. if montreal plays the same way in sask in the 1st half and not play pussy ball in the 2nd half montreal is gonna blow them out... very tempting to take the pts and run.. imo my bends is taking the over.. Yes 60 pts is a lot but both offences are cllicking so SCORE YOU BASTARDS !!!!!!!!

hmmm...this news throws a bit of water on the parade..

Durant has a stomach infection that has been lingering for a few weeks I guess. Definitely under the weather. He's expected to start but there is concern.
Gonna ride the bet out but I suspect that is why the line shot up. I shoulda caught this sooner.
Here's an excerpt

'Durant returned to the practice field Wednesday afternoon after missing Tuesday’s workout. What was thought to just be a simple stomach virus has turned out to be something much worse.
“I feel pretty bad, actually.” Durant said. “I’ve got a little infection in my intestines. I’m just a little down right now but hopefully, in a couple of days, I’ll be good. It has been about three weeks now, actually. I thought it was something that would just go away, but it progressively got worse. Yesterday, it hit its worst part, so I figured I needed to get checked out.’’

Head Coach Ken Miller believes he will have Durant as his starting quarterback Friday at Molson Stadium, but he does admit he’s concerned about Darian’s health.
“It’s a big concern, because I didn’t know about it until yesterday,” Miller stated. “Darian and I had a closed-door session to discuss the situation, because when something is going on with one of the players — particularly somebody in a position like that — you need to know so you can take proper precautions and get things ironed out before they become a crisis. He said he felt like the next day he’d feel OK. He didn’t want to be a bother. He’s kind of a private person, wanting to keep a situation like that private.’’

10 years ago news like this was a concern, but now a days with the proliferation of Internet & Media coverage I can't really be to concerned about this type of info. The fact that it is out there is the exact opposite now - no reason for concern.

Good luck with your play I like the green men tonight as well. As good as montreal is they have really had only the one test, in week one in Sask and they ended up losing.

I'm going to try and protect this Sask bet with a play on the under 60.
If Durant is hampered I'm doubtful they will put up enough points to get there plus both teams have had time to institute a defensive presence to minimize an absolute shootout. And that presence may spill over to more running on offense than is normal. Eat the clock.

oi vey...now i'm an insensitive, out of date hoser!

Ya Durant was great and his receivers are the best. Redfining the ratio roles in a way. Maybe I was looking too hard but Durant did seem a bit haggard, lack of zip and distance on his throws, perhaps cuz he's ill. But maybe I was imagining. Hard to believe they limited Montreal to 6 second half points.
Given my total play was a defensive, protective bet I got lucky. Although sometimes the best offense is defense.

Again, a petty good night for this board. As I've said before there are some good CFL guys here. The best i've seen collectively anyway. I certainly benefit from this group. The league is a quiet,enjoyable way to make a few ducats outside of the nfl bombast.
